Hi, I’m Steven. I made Pianeroo.
I wanted a piano app that cheers you on and never sends a bill. I couldn’t find one, so I built it and gave it away.
Pianeroo is free on iPad and Android tablets, for everyone, for good.

The piano is 300 years old
Bartolomeo Cristofori built the first pianos in Florence around 1700. The one below, from 1720, is the oldest that survives. Its big idea, a hammer thrown at the string that falls away so the note can ring, is still under every key you press.
Learning to play has always cost something: a teacher, a stack of books, and lately a monthly plan. I wanted to take the cost out and keep the good parts in.

Pianeroo will never

Lock a lesson
Every lesson, song and warm-up is there from the first day.

No analytics. Your progress stays on your tablet.
Made from a piano
Every surface in the app is one of the piano’s own materials: ivory and ebony, the red felt that runs along the keys, and brass for the stars you earn. Press a button and it moves down like a key.
The little objects, the metronome, the tuning fork, the candle that keeps your streak, are all modelled in 3D and lit the same way, so the whole app feels like one room.

How you can help
Pianeroo is free, and I’d love to keep it that way. If it has helped you or someone you know, here are three ways to keep it going.
Sponsor it on GitHub
Once or monthly, any amount. It pays for the hours and the servers.
